Affordable Housing
Anchorage is facing a housing crisis that affects every corner of our community. With high housing costs and wages not keeping pace with the rate of inflation, too many working families are struggling to find a safe and stable place to call home. The lack of affordable housing puts a financial burden on residents and contributes to outmigration. Ensuring everyone has access to housing that meets their needs is critical for keeping our communities strong and ensuring our economy and families thrive.
Bolstering Economic Opportunities
Our local economy should reflect a thriving city. Ensuring that working families have access to good-paying jobs is essential to cultivating an environment where businesses can grow and workers can find meaningful employment to support their families. That means investing in education, workforce development, supporting local businesses, and ensuring economic growth benefits everyone, not just a select few. By partnering with businesses, educational institutions, and industry leaders, we can create opportunities that equip our workforce with the skills needed for today’s jobs and tomorrow’s challenges. Strengthening our economy will help keep families rooted in East Anchorage and attract new talent and investment to our city, ensuring long-term economic vitality.
Addressing Homelessness
Homelessness is a complex and growing issue in Anchorage, and it affects all of us. From families struggling to find affordable housing to individuals battling mental health and addiction issues, homelessness requires a multifaceted approach that addresses both the symptoms and root causes. We need compassionate and sustainable solutions that provide immediate relief for those in need while also tackling the systemic issues that contribute to homelessness. I will collaborate with service providers, community leaders, and stakeholders to develop comprehensive strategies for getting people off the streets and into stable, supportive environments. By addressing the housing crisis, expanding access to mental health services, and providing pathways to employment and self-sufficiency, we can help reduce homelessness and create a safer, more inclusive Anchorage.
Government Transparency
Trust in government is essential to a functioning democracy, and the people of Anchorage deserve leaders who are accountable and transparent in their decision-making. As a member of the Assembly, I will prioritize transparency in government by advocating for clear communication, accessible public records, and increased opportunities for public participation in the decision-making process. When government is transparent and accountable, it leads to better outcomes for everyone and strengthens the bond between elected officials and the community they serve.
