Yarrow Silvers Officially Files for East Anchorage Assembly Seat
with Strong Focus on Community Safety

Anchorage, Alaska – Today, Yarrow Silvers officially filed her candidacy for the Anchorage Assembly representing East Anchorage, signaling a strong step forward in the fight for affordable housing, government transparency, and safer neighborhoods and streets. With a proven track record of advocacy and deep roots in the community, Silvers is ready to bring a fresh perspective to the Assembly and ensure that the voices of all East Anchorage residents are heard.

“Our community is at a crossroads,” said Silvers. “We need experienced leadership that not only understands the issues we face but has a proven record of bringing people together to solve them. I’m stepping up to ensure every East Anchorage resident has an affordable place to call home, feels safe in their neighborhood, and knows their government is responsive and working for them.”

As a mother of two children who attend Anchorage public schools and Vice President of the Scenic Foothills Community Council, Silvers understands firsthand the importance of building a community where families can thrive. Whether it’s advocating for safer streets for kids to walk to school, expanding opportunities for working families, or leading efforts to address a critical lack of affordable housing, she brings a unique perspective shaped by her years of community building and personal experiences raising a family in East Anchorage.

Silvers’ campaign has earned the trust and support of respected leaders at every level of government—state senators, house representatives, assembly members, and school board members alike. Backed by those who know what it takes to deliver for their constituents, her candidacy reflects a shared commitment to moving East Anchorage forward and tackling the challenges we face together.

“Yarrow has a proven record of standing up for our community and delivering results,” said Representative Donna Mears. “From protecting East Anchorage from an unconstitutional gerrymander to tackling housing and neighborhood safety issues, Yarrow listens, brings people together, and gets things done. She will continue to be a strong, tireless voice for East Anchorage on the Assembly.”

“Yarrow doesn’t just talk—she shows up and puts in the work,” said Assembly Member George Martinez. “Her ability to bring people together, take action, and follow through is exactly the leadership East Anchorage deserves working for them on the Assembly.”

By connecting with the community through targeted outreach efforts such as community canvassing, neighborhood events, and direct conversations with residents, Silvers is committed to listening, learning, and ensuring every voice is heard. Her visible presence at local gatherings and commitment to accessibility reflects a hands-on approach to leadership that prioritizes the needs and concerns of all East Anchorage residents.

“I’m incredibly grateful for the trust and support our campaign has received so far,” concluded Silvers. “I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and work alongside the residents of East Anchorage to tackle our community’s most pressing challenges and build a future where everyone can thrive.”
